Cancer is normally not hereditary, but a susceptibility that runs in the family causes approximately 5–10% of all cancers. Moreover, nearly all cancers have been found to have rare hereditary forms. Hereditary susceptibility is most commonly identified in breast and ovarian cancer and in families susceptible to colorectal cancer.
If a person is observed to have a hereditary susceptibility to cancer, Docrates Cancer Center can customise a personal monitoring programme for them.
